The Powder Metallurgy Association of India (PMAI) successfully hosted its flagship annual event — PM 25: International Conference on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials — from Wednesday, February 19 to Friday, February 21, 2025, in Mumbai, India.
Held at the CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, the event brought together leading professionals, researchers, and industry experts from across the globe. The entire conference was conducted in English.
A Global Gathering of PM Experts
PM 25 served as a comprehensive platform for exchanging ideas, presenting research, and exploring new innovations in the powder metallurgy (PM) and particulate materials space. Set against the dynamic backdrop of Mumbai — a hub for India’s top industrial giants and scientific institutions — the event delivered impactful discussions and collaborations.
Running alongside PM 25 was the 50th Annual Technical Meet of PMAI, which gave researchers, students, and professionals from academia and industry a chance to present their pioneering work to an engaged audience.
Highlights from the Technical Sessions
The conference featured a series of plenary sessions and technical tracks that addressed both foundational advancements and emerging trends in PM. Some of the major topics discussed included:
- Industrial PM (Press & Sinter) technologies for automotive, electrical, and mechanical parts
- Additive Manufacturing (AM) and Powder Injection Molding (MIM/CIM)
- Energy materials for electric vehicles, fuel cells, and thermoelectric devices
- Heat treatment, surface engineering, laser sintering, and coating technologies
- Advanced sintering processes including Spark Plasma Sintering and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP)
- Refractory metals, hard metals, ceramics, and composite tools
- Biomedical materials, functionally graded components, and porous structures
- Vehicle weight reduction, E-mobility, and battery materials
- Powder production and characterization, binder and feedstock development
- Digitalization in PM: Data mining, simulation, and automation
